The Crew
RONALD G. HOUCK Ronald G. Houck Sr. purchased The Beaver Smoke Shoppe in 1981. The small store was later moved to the Fairfield Plaza and was renamed The Tobacco Wharf. The day-to-day business was handled by Ron Houck II, but in 1994, Ron Sr. retired from his engineer profession and joined his son at the store full time which had been renamed, The Wharf, and is in its third location. Ron Sr. enjoys meeting new people and makes it a point to personally welcome new customers to the store. "Welcome to The Wharf, the Wharf without piers. You may spell that 'piers' or 'peers,' we'll accept both." Lucas started in May 2003 after being a full time student, later left to attend The Ohio State University and is now a full time associate. No longer with us but fondly remembered. Donna, or "Mom" is actually related to Lee...well kinda. She is Lee's mother-OUT-law, and came to The Wharf to fill the vacancy when Lee left in 1999. Donna is currently on medical leave, but usually serves as store boss. She is very personable and keeps the crew in line. We are hoping for her speedy recovery to return to our planks. Smoker, our 30 year old African Gray Parrot is the true gem of The Wharf. She is always present and loves to entertain our guests, especially the younger ones. She has torn out her chest feathers in agony waiting for Bobby to reach puberty. Her Favorite Things: | French Fries and M&M with Peanuts. | Her Vocabulary: | "Smoker", "Hello" and "Ronald" | Her Mannerisms: | Waves goodbye, gives kisses and likes to have her head scratched (by only a few people). | | |
| | BOBBY
Bobby, is Smokers soon to be boyfriend. That is as soon as Smoker teaches Bobby about the people and the bees. Now that Bobby has reached puberty, he feels that Smoker is too old a bird for him to bother with. As of July 2008, Smoker is 32 human years old; Bobby 13.
